Section 6. - Conference Track & Field Championship Meet
Rules & Regs: The Constitution State Conference Championship Meet will be held during the week prior to the scheduled State Class Championships at 1:00pm. This meet will be scheduled at least two (2) days prior to the CIAC deadline for State Meet qualifiers.
b. Timing and scoring will be done electronically. All entries are to be submitted to the timing service by noon the Sunday before the CSC Championship Meet. Athletes not properly entered will not be allowed to compete. Registration for CSC Championship Meet may be entered at least seven (7) days in advance. The Conference Chairperson shall send an ‘entry courtesy reminder’ to all coaches the Thursday prior to entry deadline.
c. Event scoring will be as per NFHS rules.
d. Each team will be allowed to enter one (1) athlete per individual event and one (1) relay team.
e. Additional athletes from a team may be entered in an event if ALL athletes
have met the designated “Special Standards” during the current competition season.
i. An event’s “Special Standard” will be equal to the last scoring place from the previous year’s CSC Championship Meet. The ‘Standards’ will be distributed to all coaches by the Conference Chairperson at the pre-season meeting.
ii. It is the responsibility of each coach to provide Proof of Performance
(POP) for EVERY athlete entered in an event under the “Special Standards” exception. All POP’ s must be entered online during the season within fourteen (14) days of the performance. The process for entering POP’s online will be explained by the Conference Chairperson at the pre-season meeting.
iii. A failure to provide POP by the date specified in the entry description (6b)
will result in removal of all but the top seeded “Special Standard” athlete from the specific event. Coaches will be notified of removed athletes within twenty-four (24) hours by the Conference Chairperson.
iv. Only official results from track and field meets during the current CIAC Spring Track season will be considered acceptable for POP. Any discrepancies in athlete performances will be reported to the Chairperson, who will remove POP if it can not be verified by member school.
f. Athletes may also be entered into the Constitution State Conference Meet as a “wild card”.
i. “Wild Card” athletes should have performed just outside of the “Special Standards”. Coaches should use discretion so as not to embarrass the individual athlete during competition. (Two (2) athletes who have not made “Standards” may participate in an event if one of the “wild cards” was utilized).
ii. Each participating team will be allowed to enter a maximum of three (3) “wild card” athletes who do not have to meet the “Special Standard” exception.
iii. Only one (1) “wild card” may be used per individual event.
g. Being listed as an alternate on a relay team will not count as one (1) of the athlete’s four (4) events unless they participate in the relay. If athlete participate in a relay and is entered in five events, they will be automatically scratched from their last event.
h. No athletes will be allowed to be entered into an event once a performance list is made public for coaches’ viewing.
